Action Alert: Use It or Lose It

Posted by DavidNYC

Just go here and do what Chris Bowers says: Call these ultra-safe Democrats and (politely) ask them to give 30% of their cash-on-hand to competitive races or party committees. Thanks to a campaign finance loophole, these guys are are the best-situated to drive large sums where they are needed most in the final two weeks of the election season.

I think the best talking point you can use is that any Dems who really give a lot now will be remembered glowingly by the grassroots in the future. Call `em now.

I have a question and I know you don't run the idea as it was mydd's plan of action but can you get some clarification about a rule?

Can the safe congressional candidate give some of his COH directly to a in state 'competitive' congressional candidate or does it have to go directly to DCCC or state party/something.

I was wondering because if they can give directly to candidates it changes my telephone call to the office.

They can only give limited contributions directly to campaigns--$2100 bursts. $5000 if they have a PAC.

Oftentimes incumbents will say: "Hey DSCC, I'll give you $500k if you funnel it directly to this race," much like what Inouye did for Akaka.
