Reforming Ohio Now = Gay Marriage

Posted by Tim Tagaris

"Ohio's family values are on the line," and as such, you must "Vote NO on Issues 2, 3, 4, and 5." "Special Interests are attacking our family values!" After all, ""These are the same people who took prayer out of our public schools, fought the defense of marriage act last year, and have attempted to legalize drugs." They are supporting these amendments because, "What radical anti-family activists could not accomplish at the polls, they are trying to accomplish through devious efforts." Ultimately, these devious efforts will, "dilute the power of pro-life supporters to elect pro-life candidates who share our values." We must "Protect our values -- Protect our vote."

That's the new ad campaign created by the opposition to Ohio State Issues 2, 3, 4, and 5 -- better known as the Reform Ohio Now Amendments. The quotes above are not my own, but actual words used on the most recent piece of literature distributed by supporters of the status quo.

Desperate lies. They have nothing so they have to resort to scare tactics to get their voters to the polls. I pray that even the ultra-religious types aren't THIS stupid. Unfortunately many people here in Ohio feel that they are going to keep going back to this well because it worked last year with Issue 1- keep telling people with how dangeorus gays are and how they threaten their "values." (To quote- as closely as I remember- the inimitable Paul Hackett "Gay Marriage- who cares? That's not the biggest issue facing voters.") Some people I've talked to even think that the Blackwell gang will bag TABOR next year and focus instead on an amendment to prohibit gays from adopting or fostering. Truly evil and sick.

Someone needs to tell these people that if they succeed in defeating redistricting- the one that scares the righties- there's a better than even chance the Democrats will retake the state offices next year and that will give them the power- and this will give them the incentive - to strip the Republicans of power. Where will you twisted "values" be then, "Patriot" Pastors?
