TX-22: DFA Billboards Final Call

Posted by Bob Brigham

Last week, I wrote about the wonderful campaign by Democracy for America to open-source the message creation for billboards in Tom DeLay's 22nd Congression District in Texas. DavidNYC then posted on the idea Richard Morrison suggested. Even DNC Chair and for DFA leader Howard Dean seems to catching the spirit.

Blog for America just mentioned Swing State Project and a great Kos Diary by Fran for Dean.

Greg Greene writes:

Let's keep the brilliance coming — make your bid for billboard immortality today. The finalist slogans will be annouced tomorrow.

So send in your entries.

I think DFA should buy 2 billboards, a couple hundred feet apart. On the first one, put a picture of DeLay and the copy, As Crooked as Texas Lightning and on the second one put a picture of crazy Texas summer lightning and the copy God Damned Shame.

How about picture of DeLay with the headline:

Totally

Fuckin'

Corrupt

Earn free press...maybe even cult status.

Steve D seems to favor the two words, Fascist Fucker. THAT would generate some earned media.

Heh, I didn't realize my diary was featured on BFA until I read it here. Thanks, Bob! :)

That might be the best compliment that has yet been paid to Swing State Project: Fran for Dean checks our little blog as much frequently as Blog for America. I am quite literally, blow away. Thanks!

As frequently as Blog for America? No no, you are sadly mistaken. Fran for Dean has Swing State Project bookmarked as one of its three daily must-reads (the other two being DailyKos and MyDD).

This is truly a great blog that covers all the topics I want to talk about :). And I must say, the level of this blog has really increased by a hell of a lot over the past month or so (but you probably already know that since you are one of the people responsible for such level-increasing).

Thanks Fran.

Here are some more sign ideas, from yesterday's Houston Chronicle:

Jaci Elliott, who lives in DeLay's district in Missouri City, held a sign reading, "The Constitution is not a cockroach."

DeLay is as an exterminator by profession.

"Every time you turn around, there's something questionable about his behavior," Elliott said.

Others held signs reading "DeLay messed with Texas" and "Don't DeLay, indict today."
