Help the Netroots Candidates

Posted by DavidNYC

I know that no one likes these nags, including me. But there are only three days left in the fundraising quarter (including today). All of the netroots candidates could use your help. I've been talking up Paul Hodes aplenty, but the other new additions to the list are also very worthy: Linda Stender, Jerry McNerny and Jim Webb.

Don't forget, too, all the other great candidates on the list. I personally have a special fondness for Jon Tester, a guy whom this site took notice of long ago. Indeed, we started fundraising for him before the combined netroots page even came into existence. But Joe Sestak, Darcy Burner, Patrick Murphy, Eric Massa and Ned Lamont need our assistance no less. So please consider giving to one or more of these candidates by the end of the day on Friday. Any amount is appreciated.

P.S. As James notes in the comments, if you have candidates in mind other than the ones on the netroots list, you should give to them now as well. The importance of the quarterly numbers for all campaigns can't be underestimated. So please, give to any Democrat you think worthy.

There's also a really great guy named Jack Carter who could use your help, too.

There are tons of great candidates--while I heartily approve of all the Netroots candidates, please don't feel like someone's not worth your time if they're not yet on that list! This quarter's fundraising is going to be absolutely crucial for the legitimacy of many campaigns.

I was thrilled that you added Jerry McNerney to the Combined Netroots thingie this week and I feel great about all your candidates. Even Webb, who I had some reservations about on policy matters, I now feel pretty good about after seeing him kick George Allen's butt up one side and down the other side of Virginia when Allen questioned the war hero's patriotism, neglecting to mention that he sat out the Vietnam war dressed as a cowgirl at a Nevada dude ranch. Then just now I noticed Larry Kissell on the list and that was a big surprise. Has there been an announcement? This is one of the most exciting Democratic challengers in the whole country and he's got an excellent chance-- if he can get some grassroots support-- to take a Democratic-trending district in NC away from a weak and pathetic Republican rubber stamp congressloon.

In fact this being America's Independence Day weekend, I want to offer a chance to win a free CD to anyone who makes a donation to Jerry McNerney or Larry Kissell-- or anyone else on the Down With Tyranny ACT BLUE Page from now until 11:59PM (West Coast time on the 4th of July). At that time we'll randomly select a dozen donors to win brand new Miles Davis/Charlie Parker CDs, THE RISE OF NOWHERE.

The other progressive candidates included in this little 4th of July fundraiser are Ned Lamont (CT), Jon Tester (MT), Francine Busby (CA), Donna Edwards (MD), Lois Murphy (PA), Coleen Rowley (MN), Jan Schneider (FL), Joe Sestak (PA), Paul Hodes (NH), Rick Penberthy (FL), Patrick Murphy (PA), Steven Porter (PA), Al Weed (VA) and others.

Eric Massa - D NY-29 has seen his district hard hit by the flooding and had to cancel some key campaign events including one featuring Ambassador Joseph Wilson author of "The Politics of Truth: Inside the lies that Lead to War and Betrayed My Wife's CIA Identity, A Diplomat's Memoir"
From the Massa Campaign:
"Unfortunately, we greet you this morning with tragic news. Major flooding in Binghamton and Wilkes-Barre has uprooted countless homes and caused the death of at least nine people. Our hearts go out to these New York and Pennsylvania residents who are battling with this tragedy.

The 29th has been lucky not to have received the brunt of the storm; however, our campaign plans were still altered by the flood. Road closings have prevented the Massa campaign from driving to New York City for campaign events with Ambassador Joe Wilson today.

Missing these events, slated to raise $30,000 to support Eric, was a serious fundraising setback for us, but nothing compared to the difficulty suffered by the New York residents who have lost their homes and uprooted their lives.

Today, Eric is going to be focusing his efforts in the district on voter outreach and assisting public officials in managing the emergency.

Tomorrow night marks the end of the second quarter. We need your help in meeting our goals more than ever before. Please donate $50, $100, or more if you can afford to.

We are standing strong in our goal to make Eric Massa the top fundraiser among Netroots endorsed candidates by raising $50,000 by Friday (7/30). Eric's campaign is powered by grassroots, volunteer-based support. Your contribution at this time makes all the difference.

Warm Wishes,

The Massa Team"
