OH-2: Online War Room

Posted by Tim Tagaris

As I type this, I am sitting in what will serve as the Internet "war room" through the vote counting tomorrow evening. It's quite a compilation of individuals assembled here right now. I am honored to be sitting with Matt DeBergalis of ActBlue, DNC Internet Director Joe Rospars, and Bob Brigham of Swing State Project fame. We are sharing a meal, a few drinks, and talking about strategy for the next 32 hours and through the next days if need be.

As I watched this race unfold from home over the last few days, I was awestruck at the scope of what has gone down in this race over the past several weeks. Jerome talked about it earlier, but this is a prime example of the Howard Dean strategy of competing in all fifty states. At the same time, the future of the party, the grassroots (Netroots & DFA) have stepped up and sent the GOP backpedaling in a race most thought over the moment Rob Portman accepted his cushy job undermining workers rights while serving at the feet of corporate interests.

If we can win here, we can win anywhere.

Good luck! There are millions of us in the rest of the country rooting for you -- Some of us even donated money today!

No matter what happens, this race has been an inspiration to us all who have been beaten down by this Administration. Go get 'em, tigers!

That is so true. No matter what happens. GOOD LUCH TO HACKETT. You worked hard. The bloggers worked hard. The support groups worked hard. We all worked hard. Again, all this hard work will not have been for nothing, no matter what happens!!!!

I think a lot of us are going to be online watching this tomorrow night. (I'm in CO) My only concern is IF the GOP pulls it off again, Hackett will get the blame game from all corners. I get the impression it probably wouldn't phase him in the least. It shouldn't - we have had a lot of excellent candidates tromped by the GOP.

I'm really tired of all the criticisms, from friendliness to saying/not saying what clearly would have swung the election. Hackett is a great candidate - win or lose -and we need more people to be willing to take on a race like this. We won't win all of them, we can start getting a different impression of Democrats across, and we should be very grateful to anyone willing to go through this shtuff - and then go to work on a job most of us
couldn't/wouldn't dream of.

Hackett's candid, outspoken personality is what I think may make this a victory. Voters are tired of pablum.

Go Paul, GO OH2 :) :) :)

Best of luck to you all. Thinking about you pounding the streets today from my desk in Oxford, UK.
