Bush Fails Katrina Victims - Worst President Ever

Posted by Bob Brigham

Today's headlines:

ABC: 'COMPLETE DEVESTATION'
CBS: Flood Waters Rise; Toll Mounts
cnn: 'Significant' death toll in New Orleans
MSNBC: 'DEVESTATION'
Washington Post: Katrina Leaves Massive Devastation

So where is Bush? Creating his own headlines:

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., Aug 29 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush was greeted by Iraq war supporters and protesters on Monday as he interrupted his Texas vacation to promote a new Medicare prescription drug program.

Hundreds of demonstrators for and against the Iraq war staged protests near Rancho Cucamonga, California, where Bush wove comments on Iraq into a Medicare speech to a group of senior citizens.

Bush said progress was being made in Iraq despite the ongoing attacks on U.S. and Iraqi security forces and Sunni opposition to the draft constitution.

Tomorrow's news:

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, California Five years after delivering a major campaign address here about the need to revamp Social Security, President George W. Bush returned Monday with a similar message, urging an overhaul of the retirement system as he celebrated changes to Medicare that will take effect at the beginning of next year.

In a speech at the James L. Brulte Senior Center here, Bush began laying the groundwork for a return to domestic issues when Congress reconvenes next week.

"I haven't changed my mind since I came here to talk about Social Security," Bush said. In a nod to the political hurdles that have stalled his proposed changes to Social Security and to predictions that he may have to jettison his plans for individual retirement accounts altogether, Bush added, "I'm going to keep working this issue."

Louisiana is in awful shape and their National Guard is in Iraq.

Bush interrupted his vacation to try and swindle seniors out of their economic security, that tells you a lot about his values. Instead of helping every last victim, Bush places a higher value on looting the Social Security Trust Fund. Disgusting.

If only the National Guard had been there. Maybe they could have shot at the hurricane or something. Or perhaps if they shouted at it loudly enough, it might have tracked west and rolled over Galveston instead.

Meanwhile, the President needs to come back from vacation immediately so he can... erm... uh... do... something? Maybe press Congress to pass legislation condemning the hurricane? Wait, they're on vacation. Never mind. But I'm sure there's SOMEthing that he's supposed to be doing right now that just HAS to be done.

You're right, Bush should sit there and keep reading My Pet Goat. He should wait until he is criticized by the entire international community like after the Tsunami.

Or maybe he should respond immediately to the hurricane and be summarily derided for trying to take focus off the war.

Bush and our government knew this was one of the worst storms to hit the gulf coast in decades. The American Red Cross, National Guard, ect had 4 days to prepare and evacuate. And who ends up in the super bowl? Mostly poor blacks. People if they had a car might not have the $30 bucks for gas, much less hotel rent. Deplorable. But there's hope, just log onto a web site so you can see how to get relief. Yeah right. I feel like Alice in Wonderland. Maybe I'm in a Monty Python movie and don't know it.
But hell the super bowl wasn't that bad was it for those 'people.' No showers, no beds, no air conditioning but hell, you guys aren't used to those luxuries anyway.
Let's go build another school or something for all those folks in the mid east that are so fond of us. And don't forget your donations to the American Red Cross, it's your duty to supply them with new state of the art computers. The ones from 9/11 are now just a tad old.
Bush should immediately:
Rescind the gas tax
Ask Americans that have extra room to house the Katrina victims. Families especially those with children do not need to be in a homeless shelter or tent city
Relocate New Orleans. It would be stupid to rebuild it unless you want to raise it to at least sea level first
Take the money from big oil to help the Katrina victims
