OH-02: GOP Threatens Paul Hackett

Posted by Bob Brigham

From the Washington Post:

"He called the commander in chief a son-of-a-[expletive]," said NRCC spokesman Carl Forti. "We decided to bury him."

Hackett, hoping to capitalize on the widespread disarray in the scandal-plagued Ohio GOP, remains unapologetic about his characterization of the president. "I said it. I meant it. I stand by it," he said in a phone interview. "In this district, we need more straight-talking, straight-shooting politicians."

People respect Hackett because he does tell it straight, something rare for a politician.

His campaign has drawn support from Democrats across the country. Liberal blogs have defended him from GOP attacks. Former Ohio senator John Glenn, another former Marine, sent a message to online supporters of Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) asking them to pitch in financially. Democracy for America, the organization founded by former Vermont governor Howard Dean, says it has raised $80,000 for Hackett.

But unlike Kerry, when Hackett was Swift Boated, he fought back. Straight talk, standing proud for what he believes. No wonder so many people are inspired by Paul Hackett.

Hackett only spoke the truth. If the Bush cult doesn't like the description of Bush as an s.o.b., they should tell Bush to quit being an s.o.b.

ATTENTION, ATTENTION, PLEASE

This article is taking Hackett's repsonse out of context. He did not say the "I said it. I meant it. I'd say it again" comment in response to the son of a bitch statment. He made the statment on the Hardball interview when asked about the chicken halk comment. The Post is making it seem like he made those comments in response to being confronted with the son of a bitch comment which is incorrect. Please contact the Post and ask them to not publish that article to publish a retraction. I have a feeling this is a coordinated attempt by the RNC and the Repugs to make the people in OH think that he called the president those comments and made that statment when confronted with the statment. This is wrong. The public needs to know that he did not make the statment in response to the son of a bitch comment. Remember that this is a district that voted for Bush over Kerry 75%. We need to contact the Post. PLEASE CONTACT THE POST....NOW!!!!
