New Ad Slots Available & Open Thread

Posted by DavidNYC

A quick note to potential advertisers: I've created two new slots (one in each corner) for "featured" advertisements. Each spot will be reserved for just one ad.

And please feel free to use this as an open thread.

Let's see if Ginny Schrader can raise enough money to buy the new slots and keep the Netroots Cinderella campaign going!

Who does this money go to?

Which of the swing states will have a vote on a state constitutional amendment for gay marriage? Is this going to affect turnout or other votes or not really?

Any money given via the ActBlue contribution form goes directly to the Schrader campaign.

Susan: I wrote a post on this a while back. You can search for it in the archives. The main swing state where it's an issue is Ohio.

Not good news on state polls for Kerry.

First, the good news: Tied in OH on the Rasmussen 7 day tracking poll.

Now, the bad news. Down 8% in OH by the latest Strategic Vision poll. (I throw that poll out as biased.) Down 1% in FL & PA on the latest Rasmussen poll. Down 4% in WI by the latest Gallup poll.

I maintain that this election is Kerry's to lose, and if he loses it, he will have no one to blame but himself. Thank goodness the election isn't being held today, or he'd be in huge trouble. I'm finding it exasperating that his campaign seems unable to get its message out to the American people. Since August, the Kerry campaign has more or less been doing little more than defending itself from accusations from the Bush campaign. No question, the Bush campaign has knocked Kerry and Edwards off track, and I keep waiting for them to rise up to the occasion and go on the offensive. Meanwhile, the swing states that went for Bush last election appear to be trending more towards remaining red--while former Gore states like WI, IO, MN, PA, and NJ aren't looking nearly as blue as they were in July. I blame this on Kerry's inability so far to inspire and articulate his message to the American people, who have had more than enough time to get to know him and what he stands for. I'll bet if Hillary had run this year, Bush would already be toast.

The one thing that is driving me crazy is the Bush lies about taxes. He keeps saying Kerry wants to raise your taxes. The fact is that Bush has increased the tax burden by 24%, but he refuses to pay for it. He is using the same failed economic policy of borrow and spend which got this country in trouble during the early 90s.

Pepe:

Kerry HAS gotten his message to the American people and they don't like it. This is why he is dropping in the polls. This is a repeat of 1988.

Dropping in the polls? don't bet on it. Rasmussen daily tracking poll has Bush up +0.6, it's a dead heat

New Rasmussen WI Poll has Kerry down by 3%. Bush 48%, Kerry 45%.
