Taking Another Swing at New Jersey

The last time I redistricted NJ, I started from the north. That made for a messy 12th district that I wasn't happy with. This time I started in the south, and came up with what I feel is a better map, especially because it isolates Ocean County in a Republican district.

District numbers are again the same, with the old 13th renumbered the 11th.

On to the maps!

Every attempt seems a little better
But without political data, I have to be a little bit blind.

Here's some political data
a red-blue map created by jeffmd
- All of Middlesex is Democratic, including the CD7 part
- All of Hunterdon is Republican, including the CD12 part
- The CD7 part of Union is more Democratic than the CD6 part of Somerset.

26, male, Dem, NJ-12

Indeed
I would make a few changes based on that.

Like I said: progress. . .

With that in mind, how about
Or?

much better
I think that's pretty close to what the actual Holt and Lance districts will look like.

My question is whether the commission
is going to go for a map that sets Frelinghuysen against Lance?

I would prefer...
...districts that set Garrett against Pascrell and Holt against Lance in competitive races.

How do you get such great screen shots from Dave's Redistricting App?  I can view my maps in the app, but have never been able to reproduce them elsewhere.

What are your goals and objectives in creating the districts that you have created here?  No disrespect intended, but they seem as convoluted as what the insiders created the last time that they did this.

To reproduce your maps elsewhere
say if you have Windows, just hit "Print Screen" and then paste your pictures in Paint.
