I'm looking at PA-08. John Kerry has sent out a couple of fundraising letters on behalf of Murphy. Also today he has a couple fundraisers with probably the two most popular dems in america, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

I've been told by a couple of people who live in this area that if the election were held today Lois Murphy would beat Gerlach and Sestak-Weldon would be a complete toss-up. But, Fitzpatrick would probably win. They say this is all about money. If Murphy gets his message out he will win.

KS-2 Nancy BOYDA v. incumbent Jim RYUN

The Lawrence-Journal World 3 October 2006 ran an article on the BOYDA - RYUN race. It states that no public polling has been done but BOYDA's internal polling for some time as been showing the candidates within the margin of error and both under 50% making it a statistical dead heat. Despite the fact this race has not caught the attention of national pundits like COOK & SABATO it is apparent that the GOP is worried. Dick CHENEY is going to Lawrence to fund raise for RYUN which would be unnecessary if the BOYDA campaign was in collapse like the RYUN people want everyone to believe.

Rahm EMMANUEL really dropped the ball in KS-2 just like he has in CA-11 (POMBO). His aversion to BOYDA resulted from her failed 2004 run when BUSH headed the ticket and ran very strong in Kansas. Well this election the top race is Dem Gov. Kathleen SEBELIUS re-election effort and she is very popular in this hitherto very red state. The Democrats have mojo in KS in 2006 and thanks to EMMANUELs lack of vision we might miss a prime opportunity to remove a wingnut like RYUN. Shame on EMMANUEL.

The L-J World ran the follwing list as reason that BOYDA's chances are realistic.

Several factors working in favor of a Boyda upset include:

• Boyda campaign signs seem to be popping up like wildflowers across the sprawling district that includes west Lawrence.

• Ryun, a five-term incumbent, has launched a television ad criticizing his Democratic opponent, a possible sign that he feels threatened.

• Vice President Dick Cheney is traveling to Topeka next week to hold a fund-raiser for Ryun, another possible indication that Boyda is making headway.

• And nationally, congressional observers seem to think Democrats will make significant gains in Congress on Nov. 7.
