Sad Day for the Blogosphere

Posted by Bob Brigham

Tim Russo has been on the warpath against Blogfather Jerome Armstrong in a nasty campaig that even made the papers. While the attacks are unnecessary and divorced from reality, they have had made it so that Jerome will not be blogging.

This is a sad day for the blogosphere. I consider myself one of the many people who have looked to Jerome as a friend and mentor.

For those who would see this as a cause for celebration, I would suggest that the Champagne remain corked. I keep thinking about one line, "If you strike me down I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."

Thank you Jerome for the inspiration, friendship, and all you have done for the blogosphere.

Cry me a river. And stop freakin' using the term Blogfather. How arrogant and condescending is that? Jerome and Kos weren't the first people to blog. Get over it. I get so sick of seeing all the blog elites flex their muscle at the expense of other voices out there.

A few voices pointed out some things that appeared fishy and the place goes nuts.

You've done alot of good work, Bob. So has Jerome, Kos, David, Tim, and on and on...hell, one reason why i'm blogging and staying in touch with local stuff and becoming active is due to work all of the above have done.

But to not be able to handle a little criticism and go absolutely apeshit (and we're not even talking the people who were pointed to here, but a foot soldier) is just crazy. I have yet to see one plausible explanation for the charges that were made. And to now take your ball and go home? Kinda pathetic really. Even for the "Blogfather".

Seriously? "Someone called me names so I'm going to take my toys and go home and pout?" Tim Russo has this much power? I thought he was just a guy who has a blog in which he expresses his opinions which are frequently a little over the top which puts him in extensive company. This is the kind of drama-queen stuff teenagers used to pull in the old AOL Nine Inch Nails folder.

The link to the story goes to a pay-for-access paper that I will probably never read again. So this means little to me except that I will miss Jerome.
