Theresa Heinz-Kerry

Posted by Fester

I am not worried about Pennsylvania going red this election. Kerry will need to run a quasi-competent campaign to win the Commonwealth, but that is as close to a given as Secretariat was to win the Triple Crown. I could offer you some basic reasons such as the overall economic profile of the state has been poor, or that the Democratic Party led by Gov. Rendell has its act together, or as an extension of that, SW PA Democrats led by Onorato have been able to squelch the Roddey led GOP money machine down here. Or I could offer you the thesis that the radical right has overreached and that the Toomey voting base is willing to throw a temper tantrum in November. These are all good reasons to believe that Pennsylvania should be a blue state this year. However the primary reason is John Kerry's wife; Theresa HEINZ Kerry.

Theresa is golden in SW PA which is the swing region of the state. But before I explain why, I must disclose that I work at an organization that will soon be applying for significant Heinz Endowment Funds, I went to grad school at the Heinz School for Public Policy, and I occassionally go to the Symphony at Heinz Hall and the history musuem at the Heinz Regional History Center.

Theresa has massive credibility with the people of Southwestern Pennsylvania because she has stuck with the region through the thick and the thin. After her first husband died in a tragic helicopter crash, she could have left the region, but she stayed and entrenched herself as a Pittsburgher, one of the few new migrants to stick with the region. Her efforts in philanthropy have made the Heinz Endowments one of the most effective regional foundations in the country. She has made it a philosophy to get results with foundation money and she has achieved results in community development, education and now real estate development with the Hazelwood Works project. Healthcare and environmental education have also been a significant priority for the Heinz Endowments over the past fifteen years.

She has the credibility to make changes because she has made changes. She was for a long time, a moderate Republican and one of the two or three most powerful Republican women in the state. She switched becasue her husband was running for the Democratic nomination AND the Republican Party of John Heinz III is no longer a continuing entity. The Heinz Endowment was also willing to pull funding from the failing Pittsburgh public schools and then in conjunction with the other major foundations create solutions that the school system could use to improve the educational experience of the children involved. She has the credibility to propose change because she has the history of making successful change.

Finally, I have had the pleasure of listening to her speak publicly numerous times, and she is an enjoyable person to listen to. Her accent is distinct but not disturbing, while her words burn with both passion and intelligence. If John Kerry sets his wife out to do what she would do anyways; find ways to speak her mind and her passions, Southwestern Pennsylvania will follow her to the ballot box.

Is the Heinz Foundation the same as the Heinz Company or does it have anything to do with it? The Heinz Company gave money for Bush's re-election.

The Heinz Endowments and the H.J Heinz Company which makes ketchup etc are two completely seperate entities. I do not believe that Theresa has any control over the Ketchup company, no directer seat, nothing. The Endowment was founded by the sale of the personal chunks of ownership that the Heinz family once had.

This is very insightful. As a person born and raised in Pittsburgh, I agree completely that Pittsburghers display a fierce loyalty to people who are loyal to Pittsburgh. If, indeed, people see her as one of their own, they will turn out for her and her husband in droves. Now, is there some way we can get her to build an arena for the Penguins??!!

Is Theresa Heinz Kerry an American citizen?

Posted by: Linda at June 2, 2004 03:07 PM | Permalink | Edit Comment | Delete Comment

All very interesting Pennsylvania, but viewing from the West Coast, I have several questions:

Theresa's first husband was a Republican, so she was a Republican. Her second husband is a Democrat, so she became a Democrat. Let's hope she doesn't marry for a third time! (Note: Maria Shriver didn't have to change political affiliations when her PROUDLY REPUBLICAN husband ran for Governor of California).
If Theresa is a proponent of the environment and environmental education, why then, when John Kerry was asked by reporters, "whose SUV is that in the driveway?" He snapped, "It's my wife's!".
Finally, does the Heinz Company outsource American jobs?

Just would like to know where Theresa Heintz Kerry was born , does anyone knows ?
Thank you .

Teresa Heinz Kerry was born in Mozambique, during the period when it was a Portugese colony. Her father was a Portugese government official.

Posted by: Gary at July 7, 2004 01:08 PM | Permalink | Edit Comment | Delete Comment

THK was born in Mozambique to Portuguese parents. I agree that she (and the Heinz sons, Chris and Andre) is a wonderful asset to the Kerry campaign in Pa. The Heinz name is golden not only in SW Pa., but also in the other swing region of the state, the Philadelphia suburbs, where Jack Heinz was very popular. Many suburban Republicans who subscribed to Senator Heinz' brand of moderate politics will certainly be pulling the lever for Kerry in November. I am very confident of Pa. remaining in the blue column in November.

Posted by: Michael at July 7, 2004 01:09 PM | Permalink | Edit Comment | Delete Comment

The praises of THK are all well and good, but I think if blue collar workers (ie: US Steel guys) take a quick look at what she spends her husband's money on (not John Kerry's money - he didn't have much until he married her - I mean her dead husband's money) they will not be all that thrilled.

Tides Foundation, Ramsey Clark's International Action Center, and others - I think even Ruckus.
These are hardly the types of groups that my W.PA roots would support.

I think any USWA or other blue collar guy smart enough not to drink the koolaid spooned out by their unions and able to look at who THK REALLY is would be sickened by her.

Not to mention, of course, John Kerry's 33 year history of hating our military and siding with the enemy - be it VVAW or Daniel Ortego, Moscow's little bitch in Nicaragua whom Kerry so adored in 1985 while Reagan was wiping out Communism.

In response to Michael's posting July 7, 2004, about Kerry's support of Ortega:

The people of Nicaragua voted in Ortega in a peaceful, legal election.

Why are we North Americans entitled to their democracy but not South Americans?

And if the wiping out of "communism" (actually socialism) in Nicaraugua was such a noble action, then why did Reagan mine the harbor (which cost lives)in secret instead of explaining to the American people why a socialist government poses a threat (where have I heard that word "threat" before?)?

Kerry served his country in Vietnam, was decorated for valor, and loves his country. Unlike Reagan and Bush, he wants to share the American dream with as many people as possible and to be respected around the world--to lead by example, not by deception, arrogance, or military brutality.

Do we really want a government that is comfortable with being hated, as long as it is feared? This is what Rome tolerated, and history caught with its rulers.

The way to fight terrorism is to win the respect of the international community, not its enmity.

In response to Steve, I would really encourage you to research who you are supporting a bit more. We are indeed gaining the respect of the International community by the much needed help they are receiving from us. I have a close Uncle who is there now, and I am hearing things as they happen. Too often the media paints a picture that we feel is trust worthy. I know personally the majority of MY media is Democrat. I don't think I am too far off in thinking they may be pushing the info they want us to hear. I have read several articles now on Mrs. Kerry and I am not impressed. I won't throw accusations, please, look for yourself!!!!!!!

In response to a previous comment, while certainly sincere, may be naive in its thinking that "the way to fight terrorism is to win the respect of the international community."
It's a nonsequitur.
I don't think most terrorists give a rat's behind what the international community agrees to or thinks, for theirs is a much darker agenda. While my own politics are decidedly centrist I agree totally with General Hawley, former 4-star general, USAF Air Combat Command. General Hawley, now retired, is no longer required to be silent or politically correct. He recently spoke out in response to those who believe that America should weaken her resolve in favor of popularity with the French et al. The battle against epic violence is not a popularity contest. If you're opposed to the terrorists' beliefs they want you DEAD, plain and simple, and they're not interested in negotiations other than not beheading some poor hostage in exchange for our releasing a bunch of their murderous buddies. If you're in the ocean and a 20 ft. Great White is barreling in on you what are you going to do, pull out a pencil and NEGOTIATE while he eats you alive? I attach General Hawley's remarks for those who care to read them. He says it better than I can.

Excerpts:
"Since the attack (9/11), I have seen, heard, and read thoughts of such surpassing stupidity that they must be addressed. You've heard them too. Here they are:

1) "We're not good, they're not evil, everything is relative." Listen carefully: We're good, THEY"RE evil, nothing is relative. Say it with
me now and free yourselves. You see, folks, saying "We're good" doesn't mean,"We're perfect." Okay? The only perfect being is the bearded guy on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The plain fact is that our country has, with all our mistakes and blunders, always been and always will be the greatest beacon of freedom, charity, opportunity, and affection in history. If you need proof, open all the borders on Earth and see what happens.
2) "Violence only leads to more violence." This one is so stupid you usually have to be the president of an Ivy League university to say it. Here's the truth, which you know in your heads and hearts already: Ineffective, unfocused
violence leads to more violence. Limp, panicky, half-measures lead to more violence... ("you can't rehabilitate a terrorist" - George W.)
...However, complete, fully thought-through, professional, well-executed violence never leads to more violence because, you see, afterwards, the other guys are all dead. That's right, dead. Not "on trial," not "reeducated," not "nurtured back into the bosom of love." Dead. D-E - - Well, you get the idea.
3) "The CIA and the rest of our intelligence community have failed us." For 25 years we have chained our spies like dogs to a stake in the ground, and now that the house has been robbed, we yell at them for not protecting us. Starting in the late seventies, under Carter appointee Stansfield Turner, the giant brains who get these giant ideas decided that the best way to gather international intelligence was to use spy satellites. "After all, (they reasoned,) you
can see a license plate from 200 miles away." This is very helpful if you've been attacked by a license plate. Unfortunately, we were attacked by
humans. Finding humans is not possible with satellites. You have to use other humans.
When we bought all our satellites, we fired all our humans, and here's the really stupid part. It takes years, decades to infiltrate new humans
into the worst places of the world. You can't just have a guy who looks like Gary Busey in
a Spring Break '93 sweatshirt plop himself down in a coffee shop in Kabul and say "Hiya, boys. Gee, I sure would like to meet that bin Laden fella." Well, you can, but all you'd be doing is giving the bad guys a story they'll be telling for years.
4) "These people are poor and helpless, and that's why they're angry at us." Uh-huh, and Jeffrey Dahmer's frozen head collection was just a desperate cry for help. The terrorists and their backers are richer than Elton John and,
ironically, a good deal less annoying. The poor helpless people, you see, are the
villagers they tortured and murdered to stay in power. Mohammed Atta, one of
the evil scumbags who steered those planes into the killing grounds is the son
of a Cairo surgeon. But you knew this, too. In the sixties and seventies, all the pinheads marching against the war were upper-middle-class college kids who grabbed any cause they could think of to get out of their final papers and spend more time drinking. It's the same today.
5) "Any profiling is racial profiling." Who's killing us here, the Norwegians? Just days after the attack, the New York Times had an article saying dozens of extended members of the gazillionaire bin Laden family living in
America were afraid of reprisals and left in a huff, never to return to studying at
Harvard and using too much Drakkar. I'm crushed. Please come back. Let's all stop
singing "We Are the World" for a minute and think practically. I don't want to be sitting on the floor in the back of a plane four seconds away from hitting Mt. Rushmore and turn, grinning, to the guy next to me to say,
"Well, at least we didn't offend them."

SO HERE'S what I resolve for the New Year: Never to forget our murdered brothers and sisters. Never to let the relativists get away with their
immoral thinking. After all, no matter what your daughter's political science professor says, we didn't start this. Have you seen that bumper sticker that says, "No More Hiroshimas"? I wish I had one that says, "No More Pearl Harbors."

No more 9-11's.

Isn't it interesting how the Republicans have nothing to stand on and so they find someone to attack. It's going to THK this time. Pretty desparate, I would say if the center of their campaign has to be against the wife of the challenger. They are sending their attack dogs out now. See it, be aware of it, and don't let it happen. Vote these jerks out of power!

While Kerry has good plans for healthcare and
the economy, he doesn't have a clue on what to do with Iraq . He's too wimpy and his wife could probably do better. Heaven help us if he wins. He'll destroy the country in a few months.

The country is already being destroyed. Thank God (the real one- not the one the right wing nuts made up) we will be rid of Bush soon enough.

Hope you go with him, Jan, you ignorant slut.

Kerry may of went to Vietnam. And he may have got three purple hearts, but I know of no soldier during WW II, that went back out the next day after being shot. ALL KERRY GOT WAS NICS And BRUISES. Then he comes home and starts bad mouthing and protesting the war in his uniform. He should be ashamed of himself.
John Kerry on Defense -- As compiled from Kerry's records in the Senate
He voted to kill the Bradley Fighting Vehicle
He voted to kill the M-1 Abrams Tank
He voted to kill every aircraft carrier laid down from 1988
He voted to kill the Aegis anti aircraft system
He voted to Kill the F-15 Strike Eagle
He voted to Kill the Block 60 F-16
He voted to Kill the P-3 Orion upgrade
He voted to Kill the B-1
He voted to Kill the B-2
He voted to Kill the Patriot Anti Missile System
He voted to Kill the FA-18
He voted to Kill the B-2
He voted to Kill the F117

In short, he voted to kill every military appropriation for the development and deployment of every weapons systems since 1988 to include the battle armor for our troops. With Kerry as president our Army will be made up of naked men running around with sticks and clubs.

He also voted to kill all anti terrorism activities of every agency of the U.S. Government and to cut the funding of the FBI by 60%, to cut the funding for the CIA by 80%, and cut the funding for the NSA by 80%.

But then he voted to increase OUR funding for U.N operations by 800%!!!

Is THIS a President YOU and the rest of America wants?

Theresa:
A note from SENIOR WATCH in Pennsylvania.
We call you Theresa Heinz [Helmsley]Kerry. Last nignt did not change anything about your 1040 and your PA 40.

You do not pay a fair share of your Billions of income todate. You and your husband do not make the proper amount of Estimated tax payments to the Federal Government or the state of Pennsylvania. So all of the sweetness you show is not in patriotism or as a true American at all. The speech team and writers who worked on that delivery did a pretty good job. But, you cannot fool all of the people in this great land.

I used to work as an investigator with your late Senator husband on the money missing and unaccounted for in the Social Security Trust Fund. He used Waterhouse, Coopers for preparing his tax return too. But, he paid his fair share of income taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What happened to the fact you used to tell him, you will run for President "over my dead body!" Has greed showed up at your doorstep or you like Mrs. Helmsley---not me, let everyone else in the country pay their fair share....but not me.

Show SENIOR WATCH YOUR TAX RETURNS and prove that your deserve to become a First Lady. We know what you have paid and what your Estimated payments have been for this year. Be fair to the voters when they vote...or is this White Water all over again. Maybe you can be called, Theresa Heinz, [Helmsley, Clinton] Kerry. Maybe, your CB Handle on Route 80 when you travel Pennsylvania can be "Tax Dodge Mamma.."
Better keep "the greasy side down, and the shinny side up" and show your tax returns to the voters. All the truckers crossing the nation are waiting and chatter every day about you. That is a lot of votes, "Tax Dodge Mamma...."

The Heinz Foundation is a seperate entity from the Heinz Company that manufacture and make food items for the super market shelves.

The interesting fact is that the area owned by the Foundation known as the Tinicum Swamps for years became a valuable piece of real estate and the Foundation was considering moving the Nature Conservatory and "fly zone" for migrating birds to another location. John Heinz loved that place and would have jumped from his grave if they ever followed thru with the deal.

You see, money does things to people--but, not John Heinz. He was a "giver"--not a "taker." SENIOR WATCH in Pennsylvania saw a motel built on the edge of the swamp not far from the runways of the Philadelphia Airport using new technology that sunk oil industry rig technology to keep it from sinking and everyone watched the realtors rush to the Heinz Foundation to try to convince them to sell. For a while, the carp swarming in circles were unsure of their future and the migrating birds nervously landed for a rest on their trip North not knowing what they would find.

Other assets in the Foundation started by John Heinz were his pride and joy and he would stop and show them to who ever was with him for business or political meetings that day... John Heinz would be upset if he ever knew that his wife and the Heinz fortune was now being used to help elect John Kerry. John was a friend who wanted to run for President but used to say "his wife wants nothing to do with politics or Washington, D. C".!!!!! So what changed all that? Like Mrs. Helmsley and Mrs. Clinton----greed steped on the door step. It is not uncommon for someone with a background from a Dictatorship area and wealth showing Power for so many years. You see, Power is a disease in Washington D. C. I once interviewed Mr. McGruder, from Watergate, who remarked, "I came to Washington an intelligent man. I was a smart lawyer and an honest man.......but, what am I going to tell my grandchildren"???????
What will you tell your grandchildren Mrs. Heinz, Helmsley, Clinton, Kerry?????
Show us your tax returns for the state and the Federal!!!!!!!!!!!!!What are your afraid of???

Posted by: Bob King at July 28, 2004 06:32 AM | Permalink | Edit Comment | Delete Comment

THE BIG TWO--OHIO AND PENNSYLVANIA

The two ski-resorts here in Carbon County in Pennsylvania used to share the name, The Big Two. Now they do not. But, it seems that in the upcoming election the name Big Two fits the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania just fine.

Swing states or not, the voters in Pennsylvania and Ohio deserve to see Mrs. Kerry's tax returns. They are afraid of another "White Water" situation all over again. And, If Mr. Kerry cannot control his wife on this matter, how can he expect the public to think he can run the country or handle a guy like Bin Laden?

There is something to say about Mrs. Kerry being independent and "her own woman", but now that she has decided to possibly become the First Lady, she should be responsible enough to show her money is properly accounted for and that Waterhouse Coopers is not screwing up again like Arthur Anderson and poor Willie Nelson, who also had them for filing his taxes a few years back. If you remember, they put Willie in "Tax Bomb Shelters" and all types of deals that resulted in a 17 Million dollar underpayment of his taxes. And the old Price Waterhouse team had a history of not making the proper amount of Estimated Tax payments to states and the Federal Government to draw celebrities and rich people to seek their services and benefits of their services to hold on to the money and use it for their own investments during the year.

I used to work for the late Senator Heinz as an investigator of the missing and unaccounted for money in the Social Security Fund and he used Waterhouse Coopers and complained constantly about some of the deals and investments they constantly bombarded him with to the point he wanted to change accounting firms for the Heinz Company and especially his own private returns.

So Mrs. Heinz, [Helmsley][Clinton] Kerry, show the American voters your tax returns for the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania and the Federal returns as well. The Big Two are watching you.

I am interested to know why no one asks John Kerry about his membership in the Elitist organization Skull and Crossbones? You know the only organization that only the Elitist like the Rockefellers, the Rothchilds, etc and all those families that don't want you to know what they are doing politically?

Also why doesn't anyone ask John Kerry why he threw all those medals, that he got for serving so gloriously in the military, on the stairs of the White House in protest of us fighting and now tells us that they are in a safe place?

I wonder if his commet would be the same as his wife's "Go shove it" Probably would be. And because he "is above it all" and because of alot of Bleeding Hearted Americans" He will get away with it just like his wife!!!

Is does not surprise me that Kerry's wife is foreign born if you look at his stance as well as edwards on immigration he would give all the illegals in the USA a green card and then citizenship. All immigrants in the military would become instant citizens. Does anyone realize that mexicans have no value in education and have larger families do we really want a country full of illiterate mexicans???? very few mexican are even high school grads. Can we count on a man who stabed his fellow soldiers in the back when he came home, not my vote ever. Do you really think a man who is a billionaire really cares about the middle and lower classes who work hard. ha not hardly. Not to mentionhe will turn the security of our country over to the UN oh my GOD!!!!!!! Please think before you vote but please vote.

It is a very sad day when the Dems can only chant about 'Hope'. The truth about John Boy times 2:

-While serving in Vietnam, the First John wrote his own recommendation for Purple Heart, not once but twice...after leaving his men in the boat to kill an already wounded teenager with an empty gun.

-After FOUR MONTHS in Vietnam, he left, only to join Hanoi Jane and others in the protest against the 'evil soldiers'.

-He met twice with communist leaders in Paris...

-After being elected Senator, and while serving on the INTELLIGENCE committee, he missed 38 of 49 votes.

-While serving as Senator, he voted to send our troops to Iraq then voted against providing the money necessary for the boys and girls to defend themselves.

-He has missed 82 votes this year alone...

The truth about the Second John:

-While serving as a trial lawyer, he refused cases against smaller companies because the outcome was generally barely enough money to pay the victim's medical bills much less enough for him to 'live on'.
-The poor son of a mill worker voted several times to limit the overall minimum wage for mill workers and others.

-The lovely 'pretty' haired fellow from down-south was quoted in the New York Times that "Most Southern's live in poverty that they cannot escape due to the limited intelligence and opportunity." What he is saying is that we are too dumb to go out and find a job......

The people that support the two John's had better hope that those American's who are undecided right now vote for Bush because if they don't, we'll all be speaking French and begging for assistance from the local charities, such as Tides Foundation, Ruckus, and the Heinz Co.

To answer a question posted above, 87% of the Heinz workforce is located in Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and the Phillipines. Mrs. Heinz COULD, in fact, bring more than 1 million jobs to America simply by bringing her workforce back...yes, back.
