The Swing State Project is changing its ratings on seven House races:

  • CO-04 (Musgrave): Tossup to Lean D
  • MD-01 (Open): Lean R to Tossup
  • MI-09 (Knollenberg): Tossup to Lean D
  • NY-29 (Kuhl): Tossup to Lean D
  • VA-05 (Goode): Likely R to Lean R
  • WV-02 (Capito): Likely R to Lean R
  • WY-AL (Open): Likely R to Lean R

We're also adding GA-13 to our "Races to Watch" list. Look for write-ups to follow soon, and possibly more ratings updates in the coming days. Our full ratings chart is available here.

Good moves all around
Can't say I disagree with any of them.

Glad to see the change in VA-05
Perriello is a great man and a great candidate. I would be incredibly proud to have him represent me in Congress.

I'd say when the cash-strapped NRCC drops almost $350k into a race in red Wyoming, they don't consider it "Likely R" themselves. They must be concerned about this seat.

What a great result it would be if Trauner wins this one.

whats been happening in GA-13 that requires an eye to watch?

CO-02 (college)/FL-15 (home).

close poll + DCCC dropping money

no way, that district is like
55% black and gave Kerry 64% of the vote, plus its been trending more Democratic every year.

Because of Scott
Because Rep. Scott wanted to start raking in some big donations by making people believe he might lose.  Sorry, a repub defrauder is not going to win there nor in PA-12.

What exactly happened in CO-04?
I remember that Musgrave barely won last time around, but what happened this time to make things go so sour for her?

Better candidate
Better candidate combined with a democratic surge in Colorado seem to be the biggest two factors.  We had an average at best candidate in 2006.
