ID-01: Better Late Than Never?

It's a miracle: the Bill Sali team has finally filed its 2Q fundraising report with the FEC. Combining those numbers (which cover the period from 5/8 through 6/30) with their pre-primary report, Sali raised $229K for the quarter and has $250K on-hand. Of course, when it comes to Bill "Brain Fade" Sali, not everything can go smoothly:

Sali for Congress has completed the July 15 quarterly filing.  However, in reviewing the report, we have found that the Column B Election cycle to date numbers are incorrect.  If fact, the cycle to date numbers $1,032,555.70 are identical to the 30 Day Post General 2006 report.  We have no way to explain this anomaly.

Allow me to do the math for them: Bill Sali's correct cycle-to-date number is $656,506.36.

dear god...
if what seems like utter incompetence has actually been some oblique form of posturing w/ misleading numbers... then, well, they really are utterly incompetent after all.

It is difficult to get the news from poems, but men die miserably every day for lack of what is found there. --William Carlos Williams

An ignorant question but...
Does being late to file or screwing up numbers have any consequences?

Consequences?
Sure - Bill Sali and his entire finance team look like a bunch of bumbling fools. That's a pretty bad black eye for a campaign that can ill-afford to live up to its reputation.

More practically speaking, there could conceivably be FEC fines, but I'm not certain how those work.

Yeah, I was thinking FEC fines.
Sometimes in places like Idaho, giving the finger to the federal government can be seen as a positive. I hope at least some of the swing voters in the district pick up on Sali's bullsh*t.

And I hope the FEC fines Bill Sali $656,506.36 for being a loser.

Good job Sali!
This has to have generated at least a little negative press for Sali. I hope Sali keeps doing stupid stuff like this, anything to help Minnick win.
I wish someone would do a poll of this race....

His operation reminds me of Hostettler's in IN-08

Good analogy -- but hopefully with one key difference
Hopefully the good people of Idaho will dump Sali after two years, while it took SW Indiana 12 years to finally dump The Ho'.  He was my Congressman for six years when I lived in Bloomington (and Bloomington was part of his district), and he was the single most stupid person I've ever had represent me on any level of government.

my sentiments exactly
for my permanent address Congresswoman, Bachmann.  Last election cycle, the College Republicans brought her to my school and I chickened out and didnt go harass her but if she comes again, it would take me HOURS to figure out what question I would ask her.  She just reeks of bullshit and stupidity and I could pwn her on probably any policy discussion.

It really makes you wonder, how the hell did these people get to become Congressmen/women???!!!  I guess not to generalize but it seems like Republicans get into office simply to protect their income and dont actually know anything (just enough to get by) while Democrats actually get into office because they want to do something.
