Rep. Reichert Hospitalized

by: jwaalk

It's was just revealed about an hour ago that Representative Dave Reichert WA-03 has been hospitalized in D.C. for a Subdural Hematoma, (the same unrealized injury that killed Natasha Richardson). Current indicators are that he is expected to make a full recovery and will be released from the hospital in a few days.

The cause of the injury was vague, and the only information given was that it was do to an unspecified minor head injury. Certainly we all hope that Rep. Reichert is okay.

These kinds of health scares are not minor things and they can be life-changing. These shocks can definitely change a person's entire outlook on life.

At this point there is no current affirmation whether Rep. Reichert will continue his run for reelection, but he could very well be reevaluating it during this period of recovery, depending on whether any long-term damage occurred.

I hope Representative Reichert is able to make a full recovery, and more information should arrive shortly.

Sounds like he'll be fine

Yeah, looks like it's going to be
Okay. Which is good to hear. A serious health scare however.

Glad he sought medical attention.
Natasha Richardson didn't.  Her untimely death has educated people on taking head injuries very seriously, which is a good thing.

"Maybe" and "remains to be seen" in your poll
are the same, aren't they? Anyway, I wish Congressman Reichert a speedy recovery!

Re: Reichert
I really hope he recovers well and is back to his normal life as soon as possible.

Maybe it's a bad time to bring this up, but notice how none of us are wishing death on this guy, unlike what certain right-wingers have done with our congresscritters in recent days since the HCR vote.  Hmm...

I think thats a very good point.
It would be nice to see the other side be decent like this when it comes to Robert Byrd, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, or (especially) Ted Kennedy

Whatever
Way to generalize and lump all right of center of people into the same boat. There are crazies and jerks on both sides. For example, check the comments on Huff Po after John Roberts had a seizure: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/... Just to make clear, I am not denying there are trolls who wish unfortunate events on their opponents on the right, there are. cough Jim Bunning cough Again mean spirited individuals come in all forms of ideology, vindictiveness and spite is not reserved for just one side of the political isle. Thankfully people like that are not tolerated on this site.

Well
I think hudi is talking about the actual physical death threats that have been mailed and called in to congressmen recently...while assholes will congregate on the internet on most websites and say awful things (thankfully not tolerated here!) there has been a different level of, well publicity these recent death threats are getting...House representatives releasing actual phone calls they're getting, rocks being thrown through windows, etc.  That doesn't really compare to the immature jerks posting cruel comments on huffington post.

I mean, I could dig up crap all day long from freerepublic, but there's a line that's crossed when this stuff actually spills into real-life death threats...people using their actual voice to leave telephone messages saying "I know where you live".  Now that's frightening stuff, I am so desensitized to the callous rhetoric of the internet that it barely even gets a rise out of me anymore, but someone picking up a telephone and saying that stuff, it chills me to the bone.

I think generally
You'll find people making threats online are actually the least likely to actually go through with them. Talk is cheap.
