AL-State House: Comprehensive 2010 Election Directory

Doc's Political Parlor deserves some major props for releasing an awesome election directory of every race and every candidate for the Alabama state House in 2010. Not only that, they provide SSP/Cook-style race ratings for all 105 House districts in the state, which really goes a long way toward giving a novice like myself on Alabama politics a quick primer on the states's key downballot battles.

This is the sort of thing that I'd like to see more state blogs attempt to do. It's extremely difficult to follow state legislative races in all 50 states, but if every major state blog poured the time and resources into a Political Parlor-style legislative election directory/race ratings project, the benefits would be incalculable.

UPDATE (David): Nice seeing everyone looking to get in on the action! BTW, Doc's guide to state Senate races is here.

Wow!
That is inspiring me to make a comprehensive directory list of all the state legislative races in California!

Awesome!
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

That would really be awesome
I hope you'll do an SSP-style grid when you're done, for those of us who are visual learners. :)

That's part of my plans.
As I am very visual myself. ;)

And as an additional treat,
I will also include SSP PVI's!

Thanks!
He-e-ey!  We tried to be visual with color, spacing, and formatting to reinforce the info.  :) An SSP-style grid is helpful, but I'm hard pressed at the moment to think of how to do the AL House Directory in that format without losing a lot of info of interest to our readers.

Thank you very much for the kind word about the effort.  It is very much appreciated!

Danny

BTW, the AL Senate version is here.

You did, you did! :)
I would only suggest a grid in addition to, not instead of. I like being able to see the whole field at a glance.

its hard to fine the information in
Louisiana unless you're in the beltway. Theirs something and its called like the alligator report or something, but you have to pay a sizable membership fee and its more like a roll call thing.

Well
There's no substitute for hustle and elbow-grease!

lol, I'll try to keep you informed
best I can.

I keep an excel chart for Hawaii's legislative races
No serious Hawaii political blogs that I know of, but I would be up for sharing my chart here with all of you.

Very cool
By all means please post a diary (or an occasional series of them, even).

Ask and you shall recive
probably closer to the actual election as these things take awhile to evolve and are more time consuming if your not a full time political reporter. But I'll get Minnesota covered before the election.

I'd love to see this in every state.

Fantastico
Look forward to seeing it!

I'm going to work on a series in Colorado
For State Senate and State House races.

That is awesome
I wonder if these might turn into collaborative projects... there are definitely some other CO folks on this site.

That's a great idea n/t

Adam, where do you live?
I'm in South Denver, a stone's throw (if you're name is Magnus ver Magunsson, anyway) from DU, so it won't be to hard for me to help with the lay of the land.  BTW, how in God's name did we ever loose Mary Hodge's house seat up in Adams County and points east?  That's a really heavy D district.  I wish I was still on vacancy down here.  Lots of retirements and I didn't get to choose...

Tondees Tavern is doing something similar for GA

Although not as in-depth their are  several different parts to their series on winning back the state house:

Part I

Part II

Part III

Part IV is to come plus more...

Well
I can't say that there's much point to doing this for Virginia, since beyond the 25 or so races that I covered in my diary, I doubt any will be competitive.
