NJ-Gov: Christie Says It “Makes Sense” to Reject Stimulus Money

New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie apparently wants to join his party’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen:

Transcript:

HANNITY: What do you think of some of these governors who aren’t taking some stimulus money? Governor Palin, Sanford, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry. What do you think of that?

CHRISTIE: I think it makes sense. If they’re going to put strings on that money, then they’re going to tie your hands and make you expand programs. And not be able to have the freedom of choice that people elected you for. Then you shouldn’t take the money.

Jed Lewison (my Daily Kos colleague who pulled together this clip) observed that it seems as though Christie isn’t just defending the governors who’ve made noise about rejecting stimulus money. Rather, he’s making it sound like if he doesn’t have complete disrection to spend the funds however he wants, he’d reject the stimulus cash outright himself. That’s $2 billion he’d be spurning, including $60 million in law enforcement funds. Christie, by the way, is a former US Attorney.

  1. Christie is no law and order guy.  He’s a Bush bundler who obeyed Karl Rove’s orders to go after Democrats and only Democrats with a vengeance.  He also pulled strings to get his brother off the hook and targeted minorities heavily (One of my two state senators, Mims Hackett was prosecuted while Dick Codey wasn’t a target.  Mims Hackett?  The long time Mayor of Newark was Christie’s Jean Valjean.  He wanted him bad.  A major issue at the trial was that the Mayor was having an affair.  Whoop de doo.)

All of a sudden Christie lawn signs were popping up all over Morris County (his home county and now one of the key Republican spots in north Jersey).

It’s hard to figure conservative support in a Republican primary in the Northeast.  They ususally operate under the radar without the TV ads.  Sometimes they pull big upsets like Bret Schundler the first time.  Sometimes they fizzle.

Based on a luckluster debate I had Lonegan fizzling.

Christie is dangerous.  The papers here cover up his many mistakes and NYC and Philly TV (all we have other than cable) ignore Jersey.  And Comcast acts like they are on Christie’s payroll.

I think he’s such a hypocritical lying incompetent that he will lose but I have little trust in Corzine putting him away early.

  2. NY started charging recycling fee for coke bottles and cans etc about 25yrs ago. As far as I know, NJ does not have this.

I would have bet NJ going to have a LT gov ahead of having a recycling charge.

  3. But there arent very many “obese” politicians compared to the number of obese people total in this country.

I wonder if that is kind of like a documented thing, people wont vote for the obese guy.  Him and Phil English who Dalkempher defeated are the only fatties i can think of who I’d qualify for this obese desigination.  (Sad)

Huckabee lost all sorts of weight before running for office, Im sure skinnier people do better in politics.
