OH-02: Does Jean Schmidt Have a Political Deathwish?

Whether it’s advocating for the importation of nuclear waste into her congressional district (which inspired one of my all-time favorite editorial cartoons), sending out infantile, racist campaign mailers, or embarrassing herself on the floor of the House of Representatives, you’ve got to wonder if Jean Schmidt was born with some of the worst instincts in American politics today, or if she’s simply trying to test the upper limits of endurance that her ruby red district (R+13) is capable of handling.

Add disregard for America’s veterans to the list:

Schmidt, a Clermont County Republican, decided to take “several hours” to travel to the hospital in Washington, D.C., to see the situation “first hand.”

Her conclusion?

“I found the situation at Walter Reed to be overblown by both politicians and the media.”

Unbelievable.

  1. This really does seem like it should be too much, even for that district, good god, even the most conservative district in Texas had its fill of jack-asses.

  2. having this woman represent my district.  From her 1970s Gymnast outfits to her ramblings about nuclear waste, nothing can beat Jean Schmidt.  It’s a shame that the people of this district don’t realize she’s the biggest joke in Congress right now (besides Sali).  I campaigned hard for Wulsin, but still it was amazing to see how many people were willing to vote for a Democrat in a district that is so red.

If we can get Paul Hackett to run again, or perhaps another stronger candidate then there’s no way she’ll be able to win another term.  However, if Paul doesn’t decide to jump in, there’s also another candidate that could definitely take Mean Jean down.  Russ Arey is considering challenging Schmidt next year.  He’s a pivotal member of the Democratic party of Clermont County, and would make a great candidate.

Here’s some more info on Russ and how we stand in OH-02.

  3. that way, one, if she somehow survives the primary we’ll have a better chance of beating her and if she doesn’t, at least she’ll be out of congress!  i don’t care if the republicans keep the seat, as long as it’s ANOTHER republican!  The woman’s bat!@it crazy!  Please, get hacket back in the race for 08.  Maybe a strong dem nominee for prez can help bring her down!

  4. Wait … uh … I thought the state of Minnesota had the looniest and mostest embarrassing member of Congress, Michele Bachmann.  From groping the Preznit at the State of the Union address to revealing she had super-top-secret information about partitioning Iraq to hiding behind bushes to watch a gay rights rally to sending out an email begging people to write positive things about her, Bachmann’s a definite psycho.  Check out:

    Dump Michele Bachmann

    for the details.

BTW, I hope both these women get sent back to the private sector.
