I love seeing where the NRCC is picking to play finally!

Kanjorski has cost us 2-4 mid price races
and he still might lose.

I guess that's the cost of having to insure your occasionally endangered incumbents.

The DCCC has no choice here, unfortunately
They have to go all in for Kanjorski -- anything less would send a bad signal to the caucus that they can't count on the DCCC if they were in a similar position. And the DCCC needs those member dues pretty badly, so...

Exactly
Like I said, it's a kind of insurance for incumbents. It can't decide to stop throwing good money after bad, or other incumbents might worry and stop funding it entirely.

[ Parent ]
How about TX-22?
Isn't this the 2nd week in a row where the DCCC is spending nothing on TX-22?

[ Parent ]
A few possibilities
1) Lampson is so comfortably ahead (they think) that they don't need to.

2) Lampson is really far behind, everyone knows, and he told the DCCC that he's had a good run and they shouldn't waste their money.

3) Lampson is really far behind, and the DCCC is writing him off even though he'd rather they didn't.

4) After the displacement in Galveston after the hurricane, nobody has a clue how to poll the place, so they're still running blind.

I'd say 3 is least likely, and 1 ties with 4 for most likely.

[ Parent ]
But if it was option 4
I'd expect them to be pumping tons of money into the district.  They've been cutting ads for every incumbent who gives off even a whiff of vulnerability.  If they don't know where the race stands, I'd figure that they'd be following the CW that Lampson's pretty much our most vulnerable incumbent and basically going all in, at least now that the NRCC is playing here.  Better safe then sorry, you know.

I'm guess that either Lampson's a lost cause or he's not nearly as vulnerable as we're imagining.  But, dammit, which one is it?

22, Democrat, AZ-01
Peace. Love. Gabby.

Crossing My Fingers It's One
I read somewhere that the NRCC is pulling out of this race.  The Republican-leaning Houston Chronicle has also endorsed Lampson.  Although I can easily imagine Lampson trailing Olson in polling, I cannot imagine him being blown out (no name candidate lost to Delay here in 2004 by only 15 points; there's no way Lampson is losing by double digits).  Put all that together, and I'm hoping that Lampson has a good lead.

[ Parent ]
Republicans are hurt by that
When Republicans very publicly threw Fossella overboard, it sent out a huge signal.  If you only have $248 K in your campaign account, the Boehners can decide if you stay or go.  And he already had Rick Renzi as a scalp.

Well, Republicans did not pony up even when they had large Cash on Hand balances knew they would be chipping in to the Boehner look good fund and not the incumbent protection insurance fund.

[ Parent ]
I love how..
the NRCC is throwing its big money at its most odious members...Sali, Schmidt, Drake, Musgrave...

Musgrave and Sali
are two of the incumbents I'd most like to beat. And you can put that in the paper!

heh

[ Parent ]
What about Andy Harris and Aaron Schock?
and Michele Bachmann and Jack Kingston and Jean Schmidt and Dana Rohrabacher and Tom McClintock?

And that's just in the House.

party: Democratic, ideology: moderate, district: CT-01

[ Parent ]
A lot of...
There's a lot of Blue money being spent in Red districts, and I love it.

D-trip needs to wade into MN-06.
After his fundraising bonanza, D-trip should pony up a little cash to make it a horse race. I guarantee the NRSC would go all out in Bachmann's defense.

I doubt we're going to get such a great opportunity to take down Bachmann again, so step it up you cheapskates!

Considering how much money Tinkleburg has raised in the past few days,
the DCCC may feel they don't need to spend money on that one.
