GA-Sen: Tie Game - Give Now!

Check this shit out. Insider Advantage (PDF) (10/9, likely voters, no trendlines):

Jim Martin (D): 45
Saxby Chambliss (R-inc): 45
Other: 2
Undecided: 8
(MoE: ±4.3%)

Goal ThermometerHot damn. While Insider Advantage doesn't make its internals and crosstabs public, this is in line with just about every other recent poll we've seen in this race. There is just no doubt now that this is a seriously hot contest, and a winnable seat for Dems.

Which is why I'm going to implore you once again to chip in and help out Jim Martin's campaign. Over the years, I've learned a lot about the blogosphere's fundraising capabilities. One thing that's become clear to me is that we function best when we act as a first mover - when we jump in early, get the ball rolling, and build up some buzz. In the right cases, that excitement draws in the bigger players and special things can really happen. And I think this is one of those cases.

However, we all know that for Team Blue to have a serious shot here, Chuck Schumer and the DSCC have to get involved. But like James said, we need to put our money where our mouths are - if those of us who are clamoring to make this a marquee race don't pony up, why should the big boys?

I should add, though, that this fundraising push is not just about momentum-building. Jim Martin is going to need every last dime he can get his hands on. $2300 won't cover the cost of TV ads, but it can pay for vans to transport voters on election day, boxes of palm cards, pizza for the staff, you name it. In a race as tight as this, everything counts, large and small.

So please, I implore you - dig deep. I know things are scary economically right now and that this ask is probably not coming at a good time for most folks. But if we want Barack Obama to have a real shot at undoing the mess that eight years of Bush, Cheney and McCain have gotten us into, then he's going to need progressive populist partners like Jim Martin. Let's make it happen!

UPDATE: Can't believe I forgot the bonus finding! McNap leads by just THREE points statewide (PDF), 49-46. Yes, in Georgia.

LATE UPDATE: Wow! We only began late this afternoon and we're already at 19 contributions and $923 donated. Can we make it an even 20/$1000?

Awesome! I see nine donors so far
Who wants to be donor #10? Who can take us to an even $700?

Coudln't resist...
I've been trying to cut back on donations due to worries over my job, but I plunked down $50 for Jim Martin.

Thank you, Chad!
And thanks to everyone who has donated. As David would say, you are truly mensches, all.

Wow, Chad
That really goes above and beyond the call. My hat is off to you.

[ Parent ]
Hehe..
Now if only Dubya and the crooks on Wall Street could refund me the $2500 I've lost in my 401K over the past 6 weeks I could donate much more.

[ Parent ]
Amen to that, brother
I can't even look any more. Then again, I'm lucky I even have a statement I don't want to look at.

[ Parent ]
Don't worry, as long as it is a long term investment
You probably won't go broke. We should be out of this  economic mess 10-15 years from now.

[ Parent ]
Oh I agree
I'm 27 so I an invested in 100% equity.  I have a good 35+ years before retirement, so I can afford short-term losses.  In the long run you can't beat the returns you get in equities.

[ Parent ]
I put in $5
Not much I know, but as a broke recent grad it's all I can do. I wish I could vote and volunteer for Martin but I moved from Georgia three months ago. But I will call, text, email, and facebook message everyone I know there to vote for him!

Every dollar counts!
And your personal contact with your friends and family back home is worth even more. Thanks so much!

[ Parent ]
Seriously
Everything matters - every penny. This is crunch-time. Your generosity is really amazing.

[ Parent ]
Just contributed
I was going to wait until the weekend, but help for a great candidate like Jim Martin cannot wait. I've been following his race closely for a few months and he's run a stellar campaign with one of the best media strategies of anyone. I put in $10, I'm a college student so that's about all I afford, hope others can give more! If we win Georgia, especially with an economic populist, that will send a huge message on election day.

That's awesome!
Thank you for giving! We're up to 14 contributors and we just started late on a Friday!!! KICK ASS!!!

Can you tell I'm a bit pumped? :)

How long are you guys planning on keeping this up?
'Til election day?  Because while I want to give a few dollars at least, I'd kind of rather wait until my school finally gives me my living stipend, which could be early next week, or it could be at the very end of October.

Peace. Love. Gabby.

Well, we do have a specific goal posted
And there's no telling when we'll meet it (though I hope the sooner the better). Then again, I seem to recall we might have exceeded our goal with Travis Childers by a bit.... :)

[ Parent ]
Put it on your credit card, if you have one
That way you can donate now, and pay later.

But don't do it if you can't pay your balance in full, of course.  It's not worth it, even if you have a "low" interest rate.

[ Parent ]
Alright, you guys twisted my arm
I just chipped in $50, bunch of guilt-tripping weirdoes you are :P

Of course, the chance to knock off Saxby Chambliss is certainly a good motivator too, so... :D

If being a guilt-tripping weirdo
Gets you to pony up, then I gladly accept the label! Thank you for giving!

[ Parent ]
Not a problem
It would be great to be a part of taking out Saxby Chambliss and moving another step closer to a filibuster proof senate, when I look at it that way, all I can say is continue the guilt-tripping :)

I gave $50 last night via dkos
I know we're fretting over whether the DSCC will get in or not, but I bet they will. They dropped $1 million into AZ two years ago and I bet they are polling Georgia right now to see where and how in the state the need to focus.

We're much better off
We're in better shape right now in the A race than we ever were in AZ in 2006.  I don't think Pederson was ever closer than high single-digits.

nice!
good to see the old swingstateproject alive and well!!  And nice to see all the good looking races as well.  exciting fall!

This race is almost breaking like
the NC senate race (Dole v. Hagan).

Martin has a tougher job because Georgia is redder than NC, plus his opponent is a much dirtier mudslinger...

If you told me this summer Martin would be tied or within the MOE with a month to go in GA I would have told you to dream on...but you can only smile at how this is going right now.

I also believe Martin and Hagan are sharing advice (Hagan is running a stemwinder of a campaign right now)

Beautiful
This will truly be a change election and a seat like Georgia is one that will devastate the GOP.  Here's $10 from the insanely broke college student who has no business donating.  Damn, I should skip going to chipotle for lunch like I had planned but it's Saturday and I haven't had chipotle this week.

Crap, I better donate to Ashwin Madia now, my fave candidate of the cycle and I haven't given a dime nor an hour of my time.
