As always, you can find more information about these expenditures (which don't include electioneering expenditures by the likes of Freedom's Crotch and the Dem-allied Majority Action) in our Independent Expenditure Tracker.

Note: In contrast to previous weeks, I've now included every race where money has been spent, even if there's been no action this week.

Special note: The National Rifle Association is beginning to make some pretty piddly expenditures in favor of Republicans, but I've chosen not to include this in the chart -- the sums being spent are so inconsequential and minor that I figure it's not worth the effort. Indeed, in many House races in 2006 where the group spent money, many (if not most) of the totals spent were under $10K per race. If they start spending some significant dollars, I'll track it, but for now they're off the charts.

Hey:
I'm curious to know if the DCCC has spent any money on behalf of Chellie Pingree in ME-01. We haven't heard much about this race. Does she clearly have this one in the bag?

DCCC hasn't spent a dime
I think the GOP candidate had an internal poll released a few days ago saying that she was only leading by 10. If the DCCC was forced to spend here, I would be seriously ticked at that Niki Tsongas-like display of weakness.

Well
It wouldn't be a bad thing if the DCCC had to spend some money in Maine. However, having said that, the 1st district is more Democratic than the 2nd (D+6 vs. D+3.8) so maybe Pingree shouldn't have a problem. I think Michaud won his first time in '02 without any DCCC help. How his winning margins increase by big numbers with each cycle- I don't know.

BOOM!
Wow. That's a big drop by DWAF in CO-04. And a big DCCC drop in MN-03. Very pleased with both but I do with DWAF and the other big green groups had taken on say, Inhofe as their number one target.

Peanuts from NRCC.
   Are these expenditures for polls?

Details....
...here.

They're on the air in WI-08 and PA-03, and have sent mail in MI-07. They've also paid for a couple more polls.

Wow.
   Thanks.

They're using SRCP, of Swift Boat fame,
to go after Kathy Dahlkemper, to no great effect if you ask me.

Loebsack's opponent is an eye doctor
In case anyone was wondering why OPHTHPAC is throwing away money in IA-02, Mariannette Miller-Meeks is an eye doctor.

IA-02 is D+7, and that doesn't take into account the huge gains in Democratic voter registration in Iowa since 2004. So this independent expenditure is in no way evidence of a competitive race.

Methinks we need to get Democratic eye doctors to run
then we'll have some free money on our hands, heh. :D
