It would be very sweet if Hedrick is able to use this campaign visit to pound Calvert hard.

(and for anyone who may forget, Ken Calvert is the guy who did a nasty queer baiting whisper campaign against Mark Takano years ago -- despite Calvert's own legal run-ins stemming for an episode with a prostitute in a car... family values after all.... Maybe David Vitter can drop by for the next fundraiser.)

What I'm hoping for. Already, our local paper (NOT known for being "liberal") has reported on Cheney coming here to raise $$$ for Calvert. And perhaps with Hedrick's campaign sounding off the alarm
a little more this week, we can get some more attention paid to the race here.

Believe it or not, the 44th District is NOT hopeless. The registration gap has narrowed to just under 11 points (in GOP favor). This was actually the same gap present in the 50th District in early 2006 when the DCCC decided to invest in the Francine Busby campaign against Brian Bilbray in the special election. Democrats are on the rise here, and I think we may have the opportunity to (at least) make the GOP sweat and fight to the death for this seat.
