NC-Sen: Hagan Leads Dole by 6

by: James L.

Mon Sep 22, 2008 at 11:53 AM EDT

Rasmussen (9/17, likely voters, 7/17 in parens):

Kay Hagan (D): 51 (43)
Elizabeth Dole (R-inc): 45 (54)
(MoE: ±4.5%)

Hagan and the DSCC are cutting through Dole's numbers like a hot knife through butter. Dole's favorables have plunged from 61-34 in July to 50-44 this month.

These numbers are roughly in line with a recent PPP poll which showed Hagan leading by five points. Great news, all around.

Bonus finding: Rasmussen also finds that McCain leads Obama by 50-47 in the state. Hoo-ah!

quick comment regarding prez race
rassy says that mccain has a "modest lead."  since when is 3 points modest?  that's within the moe.  that's a slim, statistically insignificant lead at best.,

being normal is for the mediocre.

Ya they have weird headlines
Sometimes they call 3 points a "modest lead", sometimes the headline says "statistical tie."

Here's a hint
when it is republicans it is a modest lead, when it is democrats it is a statistical dead heat. I'm sure that Rasmussen doesn't let biases cloud his polling, but some of the stuff on his website gives away his republican tilt.

It's true
but some of the stuff on his website gives away his republican tilt.

You mean like the fact that only republicans seem to advertise on the website?  That's usually a dead giveaway.

I've said this before and I'll say it again...
Rasmussen is a GOP partisan polling firm.  If only this site would finally pick up on it and give as much credence to their polls as they would internal polls commissioned by a GOP candidate's campaign

Great news from North Carolina.
This is fantastic news. I'd love to see Dole go down hard and make some inroads to the South while we're at it.

Amen...
There are way too many EVs and CDs in the South for us to just write them off as losses.  It's so great that the Obama campaign recognizes this and values the progress we'll make over the course of the next several years, even if the payouts aren't necessarily seen in the 2008 election. (Although with these polling results, who knows, we might see the benefits this soon after all!)

1 in the bank
I just filled out my absentee ballot.  Obama and Hagan are 1 vote closer!
